Foals has quite the reputation for high-energy shows, with lead singer Yannis Phillipakis climbing bannisters and jumping into crowds and surfing his way around the venue. Whether it’s due to a few recent crowds who weren’t prepared for the show Foals had coming to them or because the band was at the end of their US/Canada tour, this last show of the tour in Chicago was more tame than expected. The crowd was still riled up and were crowdsurfing to the front one after the other even through the encore. Rhythm guitarist Jimmy Smith closed out the show smashing his guitar to pieces and passing it to the eager crowd. Drummer Jack Bevan came out from behind the drums to the front to give away his drum sticks. And Yannis stood there clapping and smiling out into the crowd as if to say “Thanks for all you’ve given us.” It’s always a joy to see these boys and we are always excited to see them come back.
