In 1989, having worked as a musician and comedian, Mike began writing, directing and acting in children's theater at Chicago's world-famous Second City Theater and performing in local improvisation shows. In 1991 he decided to take the skills he'd honed to radio; the medium he fell in love with as a Child of the Seventies, when he first heard Steve Dahl and Garry Meier on Chicago's Loop, The National Lampoon Radio Hour, Doctor Demento and the heady brew of rock jocks spinnin' tunes on Chicago's Finest Rock, WXRT. For over two decades, Mike Tomano's uninhibited radio show has found a home on numerous stations in the Chicagoland area. His unique style of free-form comedy, character voices, song parodies, celebrity interviews, rock music and lifestyle talk combined with provocative political commentary made him a high-profile radio personality, winning legions of fans and numerous awards, including: 2012 Certificate of Recognition - The American Legion Department of Illinois 2009 Best Locally Produced Show - Illinois Broadcasters Association 2009 Best Local Broadcast Team - Illinois Broadcasters Association 2007 Best Local Morning Show - Illinois Broadcasters Association 2005 Best Local Broadcast Team - Illinois Broadcasters Association The radio show's success found Mike branching out into live comedy, public speaking and fronting his own comedy-rock band, Tomanosaurus Rox, as well as various stints as host and guest on local television programs. His articles and essays have appeared in Album Network, TN Adventures Outdoors, Texas Fish & Game and The Bradley-Bourbonnais Herald Newspaper and he has appeared on the nationally syndicated Neil Boortz Show, The Crash Davis Show on KFAB in Omaha, and Ted Nugent in the Morning on The Bear in Detroit. Mike currently produces two webcasts, Music Is My Life & Mike Tomano's Wild & Free, and writes & performs music and comedy in a variety of projects. Visit for more information.
